Probability is arguably the easiest chapter in class 8. It is very practical in real life as well. It helps you predict the possibilities of things when you are not sure if they are going to happen or not. For example, predicting the loss and wins of teams even before the match has started.  

Requirement: For this project, you will need a dice, A4 Sheet, and Colour pens.

Follow these steps for this project:

  1. Draw six columns on A4 Sheet using different pens. Columns should have numbers starting from one to six.
  2. Roll your dice six times and tick the columns with the numbers that appeared. For example, If dice showed the number 5, then tick under column 5, and so on.
  3. After rolling the dice for the last time, note down the results.
  4. Check which number appeared the most, which appeared the last, and questions like these.
  5. Find out the probability for each question with the help of the data you have.

A Small Cardboard House

This project will help you to understand several chapters better. It will expand your knowledge of the concept of Surface area and volumes, types of angles, and conic sections.

Requirements: To do this project, you will be required to have a cardboard box, glue, and a pair of scissors.

Here are the steps to do this:

  1. Calculate the type of house you want and use the formula you have learned in the chapter surface area and volumes.
  2. Also, use types of angles and conic sections to be more precise. Note down your calculations.
  3. Mark your cardboard box and cut it down according to the type you want.
  4. Attach the cutting parts together in the way you want them to. Let the glue do its work.
  5. Do some calculations and find out the surface area (curved and total), volume, and area of the four walls.
