NIOS admission for Class-X registration or application form

The NIOS admission process is 100% online. Candidates interested in getting admission to NIOS need to apply during the given dates. Late submission is subject to late fees. Any application will not be accepted later than the last form submissions in each block. 

Before you go ahead and register, go through the Course Prospectus by NIOS. Also, you need to follow the given instruction for registration. The registration process involves the submission or the declaration as required.

Important points on fees payable for Online Admission:

A candidate can pay their admission fee in two possible ways-

  1. Online fee payment process through Internet Banking, Credit Card, or Debit Card option.
  2. For offline admission done through Common Service Centres, a candidate can pay the fee through CSCs e-Wallet.

Note:

  • Further to the above-mentioned fee structure, an additional fee of Rs. 50/- is applicable on Online Application Forms for all the Streams (Stream 1, 2, 3, and 4)
  • Under normal circumstances, a candidate needs to pay for the fees only through online modes. NIOS will not accept any other mode of payment like Bank Draft/ Cash/ Demand Draft/Cheque or similar.
  • NIOS doesn’t recognize any Cybercafe/ Agency/ any similar institution to carry out their Online Admission process.

How to fill the NIOS Admission application form for Secondary Course

Only the online mode of application is acceptable for NIOS Secondary Course Admission. The candidates need to visit the official website of NIOS. Admissions are open for Block-1 currently. The below link will take you directly to the Application form-

Here we have a step-by-step guide to help you fill up this form.

  1. Registration:
  • Visit the NIOS students’ portal.
  • Go to the “Admission” section.
  • From the drop-down menu select the option “Academic”
  • In the next pop-up menu select the Registration of the Open Block.
  • Enter your personal details in the form and click on the “Submit Button”.
  • Upon submission of the Registration Form, the page continues to the “Application Form”.
  • You will come across stages of the Application Form – Basic Details, Personal Details, Subject Selection, Study Centre Selection.
  • Filling up the Basic Details in the Application Form:
  • Select the “Basic Details” Tab from the online application form.
  • Enter the details like your name, your Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, e-mail ID, Contact Number, etc., in their correct boxes.
  • Press the button indicating “Generate OTP”.
  • An OTP is generated to validate all the details entered in the section.
  • Enter the OTP to proceed on to the next step.
  • Fill in details about your category, caste, etc.
  • Upload all your Documents:
  • Click on the “Other Information” section.
  • Upload all your scanned documents like, ID proofs, photographs, and education proof document.
  • Press the “Next” button.
  • Once you complete the step, a Username and Password is generated for the candidate. Secure the details.
  • Fill-in the Optional Details:
  • In the next step, you need to enter all miscellaneous and optional details required from you.
  • Select your Subject:
  • In this section, the students need to select their course, and subjects of interest and also enter the details of every previous qualification.
  • Select your study center:
  • The candidates will be offered location options. A student can select a study centre of their preference. Students can select up to 3  study centres.
  • Review the application form:
  • Once all details have been entered and you have uploaded the requisite documents, you need to click on the button for “Review”.
  • See if all the details are entered correctly in the application form.
  • Once reviewed, click on the “Next” button.
  • Payment:
  • Payment is the final step of filling up the Admission Application form.
  • Choose your preferred mode of payment.
  • Pay the application fee prescribed in the link. A standard application fee of Rs. 400/- per subject is applicable for admission.
  • Take a print-out:
  • Once payment has been done, you will get an application or form submission number.
  • Don’t forget to save and print the application form and payment receipt for future references.

Note:

The online application process allows the candidates to make payments later as well. The students need to log-out upon filling and saving the application form. They can log in to the Students’ Portal with the Username and Password shared with them to make the payment later.

Documents Required for NIOS Secondary Course admission 

Here is the list of documents you need to upload while filling up the NIOS application form- 

  • A recent passport-sized coloured photograph of the appearing candidate
  • An identity proof (like Aadhaar, Passport, Voter I-card, or Ration Card) which is valid
  • Signature of the candidate (Black ink is preferred).
  • Valid Date of Birth proof of the Candidate (like, Birth Certificate, Aadhaar Card, Passport, etc. where the Date of Birth is printed in DD/MM/YYYY format)
  • Mark-sheet of Class-VIII or a Self-declaration Certificate for getting admission in the Secondary Course of Education
  • A valid Proof of Residence (like, Aadhaar Card/ Water Bill/ Valid Passport/ Electricity Bill/ Ration Card/ Voter ID/ an Operation Bank Account Statement/ for people staying in rented accommodation, proof of current residence with an Agreement copy along with permanent residence proof)
  • Certificate of Social Category or Caste (for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC social category)
  • Certificate of Ex-Servicemen (applicable only for ex-servicemen categories)
  • Certificate of disability (in case of disable candidates)
  • Marksheet of previous Board showing “Failed”. If you fail to submit the Fail mark sheet here, the TOC marks will not be updated in the NIOS results. The Board Website will display the result only if TOC Board is marked while submitting the form. In case it is not available, you need to submit a Letter of Result Verification from the concerned Board of Education.

Important instruction for NIOS Admission 

 

  • Both Block 1 and 2 application forms are available online on the website.
  • here is no Offline mode of application for NIOS admission. One needs to go through an online application only
  • NIOS will not accept any application form unless supportive documents are uploaded during the application.
  • NIOS doesn’t require a hard copy of any application fee.
  • All candidates need to enter genuine details of the applicant along with supporting authentic documents. The authority to conduct the scrutiny of the application will nullify the application in case of any discrepancies.
  • NIOS will confirm the admission of candidates by providing them with an identity card. Students are requested to check the identity card thoroughly for any discrepancies. You need to inform the NIOS regional office in case of any discrepancy in the card.
